Toronto Social Housing Connections
Community Centre 55 in partnership with Toronto's Social Housing Connections provides application assistance for those needing subsidized housing throughout Toronto. Accommodation may be in low-rise or high-rise apartments, townhouses, houses or a room with shared facilities. The size of the unit depends on how many people will be living in it. Each housing provider has its own standards, however, normally no more than two people share a bedroom.

Once Housing Connections receives your signed application, their staff will check to make sure that you are eligible for geared-to-income housing, based upon the information you provide. The applicant may be put on a waiting list for all the locations the applicant has chosen, according to the date of the application. The waiting list varies depending on how flexible the applicant is, where the applicant prefers to live and the type of housing wanted. Bachelor units varies from less than 6 months to 4 years, shared accommodations may be available more quickly and the average wait for larger units can be more than 5 years.
