David Breech named 2006 Beach Citizen of the Year

Anyone who has ever played baseball in the Beach has probably encountered David Breech. He has been a coach and president of East Toronto Baseball Association for more than 20 years.

If you have attended the annual Carolling in the Park, David and his Scout Troop have been selling hot chocolate.

David is an active member of St. John's Catholic Church, and also a member of the Beach Interfaith Committee. He is a member of St. John's Catholic School Parent Council and the Kimberley School Council.

In fact, David has volunteered for almost every worthy community effort from the Spring Sprint, the Down in the Beach Fun Run to Community Centre 55's Share-A-Christmas and Jazz Festival Wine Garden.

So, it will come to no surprise that the Beach Citizen of the Year Committee has selected David Breech as this year's honouree.

Bob Murdoch, Executive Director of Community Centre 55, put it this way: "David Breech is a long term devoted volunteer who has a considerable track record of unconditional service to this community. He has a sustained devotion to the welfare of other people and has helped to make this community a better place in which to live, work and play. His service record speaks for itself. It is another marvelous example of a citizen who deserves the title and recognition of the Beach Citizen of the Year."

David will be formally honoured at a ceremony on October 14 at the Community Millennium Gardens.
